“The Gong is the first and last instrument for the human mind, there is only one thing that can supersede and command the human mind, the sound of the Gong. It is the first sound in the universe, the sound that created this universe. It’s the basic creative sound. To the mind, the sound of the gong is like a mother and father that gave it birth. The mind has no power to resist a gong that is well played.”
-Yogi Bhajan

To become healed, means to become whole.

Everything in the universe vibrates. This includes the human body and It’s physical and subtle energetic layers. The gong has the ability to resonate at a frequency that is harmonious with the rest of the body. It is becoming increasingly popular in treating all sorts of ailments and conditions. Gong baths can help with physical, mental or spiritual problems by bringing about the transition of cellular realignment through the medium of sound. The pure penetrating sound waves of the healing gong will enable you to break free of old patterns and regenerate and re-balance yourself. Working within all the parameters of the body there is nowhere that the resonance of the healing gong cannot penetrate. It will bypass the mind and go straight to the root of the problem.

In my sound baths I take you on a primal journey using many different sounds, from ancient americans intruments to shamanic drums, crystal and tibetan bowls and my two wonderful Earth and Air gongs. The experience is deeply restorative and can take you into a deep state of meditation without having to do any work. It can help with a number of issues including insomnia, anxiety and depression.

How does gong healing work?

It affects the physical nervous system, not just hearing it through the ears, but the sensation of feeling it on the skin. Sound travels and the body picks up sound. It’s a cleansing process for the subconscious mind. It’s effortless; that’s why a lot of people like it. It’s not like going to therapy and talking about your problems.

How is it different from other types of sound healing?

It’s the combination of overtones and undertones. They make new undertones and overtones, so there’s a branching out of sound. It’s not like music that’s following a melody. The logical, analytical part of the brain can’t figure it out. It allows for that part of the mind to completely disengage and a person to connect to their spiritual self. That’s what the gong is really good at, helping people to bridge from physical to meditative states.

What are the benefits?

The gong heals the parasympathetic nervous system — the resting, digesting nervous system, which typical modern day people don’t nurture much. They’re always in fight or flight. A lot of gong healers find certain people come back again and again to gong meditations. People say it helps them handle life better, to be more relaxed. It trains their nervous system to easily be able to get back into the space of peace.
