‘They should walk taller than the stars, be brighter than the sun and be as peaceful, bright and beautiful as the moon’
‘I believe that all children are stars. With gentle attention, great yoga techniques and a whole lot of love, children grow and blossom into the shining stars they’re meant to be’
‘Incite to life, but let life develop freely’ – Maria Montessori
What is starchild yoga?
Starchild Yoga is a unique form of yoga designed for young people. It is the brainchild of senior Kundalini Yoga teacher Siri Arti. I recently completed my training with her and am qualified to teach Starchild Yoga to children from 2-18 year olds. Starchild yoga blends the power and beauty of Kundalini and Hatha Yoga, it is adapted for young people & is founded on the principles of Montessori education. Starchild yoga elevates and empowers chidren to embrace life and to walk forward with confidence and self belief.
What happens in a starchild yoga class?
In a starchild yoga class we use a mix of Kundalini yoga and Hatha yoga to create healthy bodies and explore the self using breath, mantra, mediation, relaxation and more. The use of mantra affects mind and body and is said to nourish the soul. Enabling the children to sing from their heart is empowering and elevating. Personally I find the children enjoy this section of the class the most!
The class will be structured depending on the age of the group. Generally classes from reception up to Year 3 will be between 25 and 40 minutes long. From year 3 upwards they get slightly longer as the childs concentration grows. From the age of 11 the class will be an hour long.
TEENS STARCHILD YOGA
I am excited to be able to bring the wonderful techniques of Kundalini yoga and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan to teenagers. The pressures of modern life are overflowing. Teenagers are dealing with huge hormonal changes and sometimes have no outlet to share their experiences or release tension and stress. My aim is to provide a safe space where they can develop a healthy strong practice whilst developing mindfulness skills. Its essential to find time to let go and relax, to find joy and comfort.
